Our Initiatives

The Caring Closet, formerly founded and managed by Caring Families, is a community service to provide families with FREE household items, clothing, shoes, and furnishings to advance the quality of life of the residents in Ellsworth County.  We accept gently used or new clothes, shoes, kitchen items, and furniture.

The Caring Closet is operated by Because We Care Ellsworth County.

Vision:  Empowering every citizen of Ellsworth County to access resources they need to thrive

Partners:  Ellsworth County Medical Center, Ellsworth County EMS, Grow Ellsworth County, USD 327, K-State Research & Extension Midway District, Central Kansas Mental Health Center, many other committed community members

Gently used or new clothing is accepted on the first Wednesday of every month from 8am-5pm.

Shopping

Shoppers are encouraged to come at their convenience every Monday between 8am and 5pm.

Everything is FREE but we ask that you leave the store in the same condition or better than you found it.

Volunteering

The storefront is managed by the Because We Care coalition through volunteering time. 

 

Sorting, organizing, and managing the storefront is a collaborative act of kindness, and we encourage and welcome volunteers.
